Quick Trip to New York

My friend Ann and I took a short vacation and visited Westchester County this past weekend. We were both to judge the fantastic Westchester Feline Club's annual cat show on Sunday but went a little early so we could do a little sightseeing.

We rented a car and drove around, though cold and windy, we had a great time visiting the Lyndhurst Castle. There were lots of geese grazing on the manicured grounds.

Next we drove to the community of Sleepy Hollow and wandered through the huge cemetery!

That was very interesting, lots of famous people buried there, including Washington Irving who wrote about the Headless Horseman.

We also went to a nice little church bazaar and picked up some homebaked goodies and Christmas ornaments.

The show was wonderful as usually with over 225 cats entered. Newer breeds like the Kurilian Bobtail and Savannah were exhibited. We missed getting to meet the men of RescueInk, a cat rescue group that were there on Saturday. Visit http://www.rescueink.org/ to read about their group.
