Last lamb for 2010

Our senior ewe, Mudpie (13 years old) had her little ram on Friday morning.
This evening they are out enjoying the green grass.

We named him Ulrich as in Sir Ulrich von Lichtenstein from Knight's Tale, one of our favorite movies. Since this was our "U" year, the registered lambs will be: Una, Umber, Umami, Urkel, Umeko, Ursula, and Ula.

Finally a boy...

Leave it to our littlest mare, Libby, to give us our first little boy of the year.
Check out that diamond!

Filly # Five!

Our miniature mare, Heather, gifted us yesterday with this cute filly. Isn't that a great "mask"?

Our "bellwether" Rufus

It's official now, Rufus has a job... he is our "bellwether" - from Middle English, leading sheep of a flock, leader, from bell + wether; from the practice of belling the leader of a flock.

Tunis yearling ewes

Here are two of our yearling ewes. It's time for shearing!

That feels sooooo good.

Another mini filly!

Wow, we are on a roll! It's a girl year at Unicorner Farm!
Here is the latest, born last night to our newest mare, DeeDee (Double Dare). It's a pretty little sorrel girl with a blaze. Her dad is Dragon.

Lilly finally lambed...

We have been waiting and waiting for this lamb. It is Lilly's first. A very big ewe lamb that was a bit of a challenge to deliver this morning about 6 a.m. You can barely tell Lilly has had a lamb, maybe we are feeding them too much?
